COVID-19 Update - High School & Junior High School

April 15, 2021

Dear Families:

The District was notified that a Senior High student has tested positive for COVID-19.  The student was in school during his/her infectious period.  As a result, 18 additional staff and/or students need to be quarantined as a result of this case.  Additionally, we had a student at the Junior High test positive.  This student was NOT in school during his/her infectious period and no additional staff and/or students will need to be quarantined at the Junior High.

This positive case at the Junior High  WILL NOT be counted towards the rolling 14-day count; however, the case at the Senior High WILL be attributed to the District.

As a result, we will continue to stay open under the current model.   See below for the current case numbers at each building as of this morning.

  • Senior High - 1 active cases
  • Junior High - 0 active cases
  • Eisenhower - 0 active cases
  • Horace Mann - 0 active case
  • Ben Franklin - 0 active cases
  • East Pike - 0 active cases

As a reminder, the 14-day clock starts at the onset of symptoms, not when the District is informed of the test results.

As always, the number of confirmed cases can change at any time.  We understand the terrible inconvenience a closure causes our families; however, we have a responsibility to make you aware of the possibility.  My goal is not to cause panic, rather it is to help make you aware of the current situation in case the District needs to make a change rather quickly.

Respectfully,

Mr. Michael J. Vuckovich

IASD Superintendent
