Message from Principal Johnson

My name is Doug Johnson, I am the Principal of Horace Mann Elementary School. I want to take a moment and say that though there is great responsibility in being an educator, it is my privilege to work with your kids every day. 

 

On behalf of the entire Horace Mann faculty and staff, I want to extend to you and your family a very warm welcome to our school.  We truly have an amazing staff here, and we are committed to providing a challenging and rigorous curriculum that helps each student progress at a developmentally appropriate rate and provides a safe environment for all students. 

 

As a former teacher and coach, and as a current administrator, parent, and resident in this community, I feel that the most important part of education is giving our students the tools that they will need to be successful in whatever their next opportunity is. Whether that is a student who has unique educational needs or a child who needs to learn how to appropriately express their social and emotional concerns, our students are our future and I strive to give all of our students the opportunity to thrive by engaging their curiosity, excitement, and problem solving skills. 

 

As the principal of Horace Mann Elementary, I believe that it is my responsibility to maintain and continue to build a supportive and collaborative spirit at our school and in the community.  Together, we will continue to build on the traditions of the past and meet the challenges of the future in innovative and exciting ways.
