October 22, 2020
Dear Families:
I wanted to take a moment to provide you with an update regarding COVID-19. On Wednesday, October 21, 2020, the District was alerted that an elementary student’s parent tested positive for COVID-19. This student does not attend any IASD schools but does utilize our school transportation as they attend a private school. Furthermore, this student attends the same daycare program as several IASD students before and/or after school. We are expecting several students to be quarantined as a result, but cannot confirm at this moment.
As you know, the Department of Health has the authority and final determination to quarantine students. At the current time, I am not aware of what action the DOH has taken. We are currently monitoring the situation and have been in contact with the DOH to gain a better understanding of their response and the impact it may have on our families. Our School Health Services team isolated all students who may be impacted by this incident as soon as we were alerted to the situation, and we are following up with phone calls to their parents.
I wish I could tell you more, but we are waiting for additional information from the DOH and will make you all aware of any new updates as soon as we receive them. I appreciate your understanding. My goal is not to upset you or cause any additional stress, I just feel it is important to make you aware of the situation that we are monitoring as it could impact some of our families.
Respectfully,
Mr. Michael J. Vuckovich
IASD Superintendent
